About Jim

11011940_10103217982164837_7624129059269500844_nJIM YOUNG is the Director of Golf Instruction at Gaillardia Country Club in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.  Jim is a Class A PGA and TPI Certified Teaching Professional.  He works with all ages and levels of golfer from juniors to seniors and beginners to touring professionals. Jim teaches the whole game, including putting, short game, full swing, course strategy, mental game and golf fitness.  In addition, Jim is a Certified club fitter who can ensure students have the right driver, fairway clubs, irons, wedges and putter to fit their game.  He teaches both individual and group lessons, specializing in Junior Camps and Ladies Clinics.

Jim played both high school and NCAA Division I college golf including a tournament win and All Big Eight Conference honors at The University of Kansas.  After graduating from KU Jim played golf professionally before several years in the business world.  In the last several years Jim has played as a professional in the South Central Section of the PGA and has won individual and team events.

In 2014, Jim won the South Central PGA Pro-Scratch Championship (with amateur partner Trent Evans) and the South Central Section Assistants Championship, qualifying for the PGA National Assistants Championship.

In 2015, Jim won the South Central PGA Assistants Association Championship for the second time, the Assistants Cup Matches and was named Assistant Player of the Year for the South Central PGA along with Player of the Year for the Western Oklahoma Chapter of the South Central PGA.  In addition Jim was named Western Oklahoma Chapter Teacher of the Year and Patriot Award Winner for his work with the PGA Hope Veterans program.

In 2016, Jim won the South Central PGA Assistants Match Play and Assistants Association Championship, was named Assistant Player of the Year for the South Central PGA along with Player of the Year for the Western Oklahoma Chapter.  Jim was given the 2016 Player Development Award for the Western Oklahoma Chapter of the South Central PGA.

In 2017, Jim won the South Central PGA Omega Series Western Oklahoma and Arkansas events and was named Western Oklahoma Teacher of the Year and received the Western Oklahoma Player Development Award.

In 2018, Jim won the South Central PGA Match Play Championship and finished as the South Central PGA Player of the Year.  Jim was also awarded the Western Oklahoma Patriot and Bill Strausbaugh Awards.

In 2019, Jim won the South Central PGA Players Championship and was awarded the SCPGA Patriot Award along with the Western Oklahoma Chapter Youth Player Development and Bill Strausbaugh Awards.

In 2022, Jim was awarded the South Central Section PGA’s Professional Development Award along with the Player Development Award for the Western Oklahoma Chapter.  Jim won the Eastern Oklahoma Stroke Play Series and SCPGA Senior Match Play and was named Senior Player of the Year.  

Jim began Jim Young Golf in 2009.

Jim lives in Edmond, Oklahoma with his wife and two sons.
